A new member of the team

This gloomy January has been considerably brightened by a new team member joining the ‘Connectivity and competition’ project. Dr Livia Tagliapietra, who previously worked at Jesus College, Cambridge, has joined the project as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, and will be conducting research on language contact in the Bay of Naples and other areas of Southern Italy in the Republican period. Her research covers Greek, Latin, Oscan and other languages in the region. We previously collaborated on a new reading of the Petelia curse tablet (pictured) and on the edited book Migration, Mobility and Language Contact in and around the Ancient Mediterranean, and I’m really excited to have her on board.

Livia will post some guest blogs on this site during the year, so hopefully you will have a chance to hear more about her research soon.
